I'm in the process of setting up my home network with the following:
Linksys BEFCMU10 cable modem Linksys RT31P2 Broadband Router/phone adapter Motorola WR850G Broadband Router
I've recieved some direction from forum members regarding the order in which to set up the equipment, so for now, I'm not too worried about the hardware sequence.
I am having problems getting the Linksys router (supplied by Vonage) to be operational. When I connect the router to the modem, according to Vonage's user setup guide, all I get are rapidly flashing lights on the Power, Ethernet and Internet indicators. The phone line lights periodically flash.
After reading some help topics, I see the router needs some time to update firmware and register the phone lines before the equipment is functional. However, I've waited 30 mins and there's been no change.
What should I be doing!?
Thanks in advance, Dave |

power light flashing is indicative of a firmware upgrade. constantly flashing is indicative of a dead router. you can try this reset: unplug power, unplug phone cords, push and hold reset button, plug power back in while holding reset button, keep holding reset button for 15 seconds after powering back on. keep an eye on the power light, and don't plug the phones back in (or power the box off) until it stops blinking. |

Just an update to the issue...after an hour and a half on the phone to Vongage techies (India), they're sending me a new router. Turns out I could ping the router but couldn't get access to the configuration page.
Thanks for the help! |
