Good Day:
I am trying to call the Speaking Clock in London. The number (with prefix) I was told is:
44 0871 7893642
When calling I receive a fast busy, such as an invalid number. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks from across the pond, G Wagner Free Call on Vonage: 1 832 476 3726 |

I am disappointed you didn't get a response because I was curious if you could get this to work.
Visit the speaking clock web page.
Just to be sure, you should be dialing 011 44 871 789 3642. (I believe the leading 0 in front of the 871 is either optional or not to be included when dialed internationally).
Interestingly enough Vonage does not provide service to toll services in the US, so Vonage may not allow calls to this number. However, Vonage does show a $.28/minute rate to 448 "special service" numbers.
[EDIT: Corrected rate per houuser] |

I tried it utilizing my Vonage line as well as my mobile phone. Neither worked for me. |

Tried it, and still a fast busy. I wonder if there is a block somewhere.
I still have faith. |

Vonage doesn't support 1-900 services in the USA and the speaking clock service appears to be a pay-per-call type service, so it probably isn't supported.
Free (but US-based) ones from the US NIST: (303) 499-7111 (Colorado) (808) 335-4363 (Hawaii) |

Thanks, for the US numbers. I just would like to be able to access what I had before the number change. |

Just a suggestion but if you want to ring the speaking clock ring: 01923 287 748
For one thing it'll work and also it'll come out of your free airtime and not cost anything! |
