I have had my RT31P2 for about a week now. In that time, I have had to reset my cable modem twice, due to losing internet connectivity. I had a Microsoft Wireless router prior to this, and NEVER lost connectivity. My current setup is Linksys Cable Modem - connected to the RT31P2 Router. I have a Linksys Wireless-G access point connected to the router, and my desktop computer connected to the router as well. I have all default settings used, but every few days, it seems that I cannot use the phone or connect to the internet unless I reset the modem. Anyone have this problem, or know of a solution?
Thanks in advance. |

You are resetting the modem instead of the router? Sounds more like an issue with the ISP than with the Vonage box... |

I have this same problem and the same model. Previous to having Vonage I had my DSL modem plugged into a wireless router and my connection was solid and reliable. Now that I go through your Vonage router my connection drops about every hour or so if I am not using the phone. If I am on the phone my call time can range from 1 minute to hours. Most often it's in the 5 minute range, and thus why I have not even attempted to call phone tech support - I can't stay connected long enough.
I have troubleshooted this issue with my ISP and they can't figure it out (I haven't told them about the Vonage box to lay it on them). Further, I have confirmed that my DSL is not at fault by connecting it directly to my computer. I kept my connection straight all day.
What happens within the router is it actually disconnects from my ISP. However, while it is disconnecting the router is unavailable through the web view and doesn't respond when it initially drops the connection. Only after 10-15 seconds and it's reconnecting can I view any web pages from the router so I can see it connecting.
So, from what I can gather the issue is the router. Is this a constant thing (being it's a Linksys I wouldn't be surprised) or is it a firmware issue?I can't find any firmware updates for this model.
If it is my router, is it possible to get it replaced with a new model (different brand would be nice) and a service credit for the time I'm waiting to get working equipment that doesn't kill my internet connection?
Thank you for any help you can give me, I'd really appreciate it. I'm in the military and pretty far away from my wife and this is really frustrating trying to call her only to get bounced a minute into the conversation... |

Yoshokun, A few things if you could..Who is your ISP, what is the setup like ie modem to RT to PC etc, what model modem do you have, and lastly when you can go to www.testyourvoip, run a test call to Boston, and click DETAILED results at the bottom of the page, and post those here...
We will get you back up and talking to the wife! |
