April 5, 2006 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
April 5, 2006 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
April 5, 2006 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Accepted
April 5, 2006 Transfer Sent to Carrier
October 4, 2006 Carrier Approved Transfer
October 4, 2006 Completed LNP Transfer
FCC worked for me.... I filed with the FCC in late September and amazing enough, my transfer goes through shortly after with no reasoning given for the delay.

I'm trying to transfer my number from Net2Phone to
Vonage
. Vonage's website has LOA as been sent to carrier. Net2Phone claims:
Quote:
We will only recieve notification after the port is complete, for any port
out questions please contact the recieving carrier, in this case
Vonage
.
What is going on? If the LOA has been sent shouldn't Net2Phone be able to tell me that? It sounds like Net2Phone is not being honest with me. But it hasn't been the full 20 days yet so I'll wait until then. If I still get nothing maybe I'll file a FCC complaint.
EDIT: The thing I don't understand is if Net2Phone claims they don't go the port, and
Vonage
claims they don't do the port then who does do the port?

Are there any
Vonage
reps that monitor this forum that can assist in a CLEC port???
My numbers are thru a CLEC called Xpedius, and i've been trying for 4 months now to get my 4 numbers ported. The fact it's coming off a PRI, which should make no difference in the world of LNP (never has in the past),
Vonage
reps don't even know what a PRI is. (ugh)
Here's the aggrivating point.
Vonage
tells me they have heard nothing back from the carrier, the carrier tells me they have no request from
Vonage
on file.
Both give me each other's 800 number to pass on to each other, and i've called and there's a ticked open on this with both, but i'm at a cross roads where i'm beginning to think this will never get done.
Thanks if anyone can help.
Seeya,
Dave

Agrravating indeed. Both sides say talk to the other. Neither has any information whatsoever. Very frustrating indeed.

Well, honestly, nearly every agent has access to the same, very simple and vague information. The best way to avoid all of this is never bother with
Vonage
at all. Regardless of the savings.

Regardless of the savings!!?? I used to pay $60 just to have the damn phone ring, much less any long distance. The savings are well worth it.
UPDATE: My transfer from Net2Phone to
Vonage
completed today.

our phone number was transferred quickly. our problem is lots of carriers never updated access to our number so lots of people who call our business now hear "this number has been disconnected." we've been round and round with
Vonage
for months now and they don't call back and keep saying it's not their fault that other companies don't update access to our number.
so basically we feel like once you sign up,
Vonage
broadcasts the number access change to these companies, but those companies have no motivation to update access to our number and
Vonage
has no ability to make them, so the customer is given half working phone service for half the price.
we've had to ask our customers to politely call their phone companies and request them to update our number. not exactly something we want to ask our customers to do. what's worse is we have no idea (nor does
Vonage
) which companies have updated their access to our # and which haven't nor can
Vonage
(they claim) provide us with a list of those companies, even though they said they contact everyone about the change!
we could go back to verizon, but we've been told if we do our number is toast cause it's in such limbo. so if we go back to verizon we have to change our number on all our promotional materials and contact our customers at our expense.

Your number is not in limbo -
Vonage
has it and it can be ported to another provider. The only numbers that cannot be ported from
Vonage
are their virtual numbers.

I tried porting my
Vonage
USA service number to
Vonage
Canada but the sign-up website said I could not.
The number is my primary number and only number on my account now, but was at one point a virtual number.
I figured
Vonage
USA would be able to transfer "any" of their numbers to
Vonage
Canada but this does not seem to be the case.
