I found an easy way to forward my home line to my cell phone when I leave the house. I found that if I turn off my broadband modem (Motorola has an Off button at the top of the modem) my calls will automatically forward to my cell phone because I selected in the Vonage program that if the network fails calls will forward to XXX.
Now instead of activating call forwarding each time I leave the house thru the web interface, I just turn off the modem, and turn it back on when I get home. |

Its called Network Availability Feature. Its designed to forward calls to another Vonage phone or Regular Phone number of your choice in the event your Internet connection goes down or there is a power outage. |

Yes, I guess you would call it the "stand-by" button. Although it turns off all the lights including the "power" light. |

seattlezoid,
Your solution is interesting. But, why not just set your Simulring to ring both yoru cell phone and your Vonage line. That way, when you go out, you do not even have to worry about turning off your modem.

I have a pre-paid cell phone and I pay by the minute. If my cell phone rings I pay 20 cents!
Call me cheap, but 5 of those a week is a buck! |

I have a 7Eleven "Speak out" Nokia Phone. They charge $25 for a prepaid card which has a 365 expiration date. So for about $50 a year I have all the time I need. (Over 4 hours). But yes, if the call goes to voicemail I have to use my minutes to access my VM account. It can not be accessed through land line. (Bummer) 7-11 uses the Cingular network so coverage is ok in metro areas. |
