I am in a catch 22 situation now. To get Vonage to work with my ADT alarm I need to put my ATA in front of my router so the ATA can do QoS. If I put my ATA in front of my router, it freezes and kills my Internet connectivity. Is Vonage aware of this problem with the Motorola ATA? Is Motorola fixing this problem? If so, do we have an ETA?
As others have said the Vonage box does not seem to be very stable in front on a router. I had mine there originally with NAT disabled but I had to move it behind.
Currently all I've done is put my home devices on a switch so that internal traffic doesn't conflict with Vonage traffic on the router. Probably not a big help but it's cheap and can't hurt. I find call quality perfectly acceptable.
john, wow that is quite a setup! I'm curious, do you have any port forwarding, say for a web server on your internal network? I guess you would have to put a forward entry on both routers. If you are doing that, does it work ok?
