After all sorts of headaches with Lingo, I'm considering switching to Vonage. One thing I didn't try with Lingo (thank god) was trying to port my number.

The reason I hesitated at the time was because my phone number is tied to my DSL line.. so if I try to port my number from SBC, will I lose my DSL line? If it does port over successfully, will I lose my DSL, or will that get a new phone number? My wife has basically said "No VOIP if we can't keep our home number." so this is pretty darn important if I'm going to sign up for Vonage. (I'm already cancelling Lingo)

I guess I'm hoping to hear from SBC DSL customers, especially those in the SF Bay Area (Since DSL offerings do seem to vary from region to region)
