Last night I went to the Vonage Voip Forum Web site and found some threads on features Forum members wish the company would offer.
Interesting list.
Here are ten:
Anonymous Call Rejection; Free Call Block; Additional Voice Mail Boxes; Wake-Up Calls as a Feature; Free Calls to Puerto Rico; (belay that order-just added today!) Telemarketer Blocking; Multiple Emails for Voice Mail notification; Caller ID on computer screen; "Total minutes used" account management feature; Have Vonage voice mail SMS a cell phone that a message exists.
OK, the Vonage Forum members have spoken. Now, it's your turn. What features would you like to see Vonage offer that it doesn't, now? TalkBack. |

OK, but if we number these 10 items we find: 0, 1 and 6 are essentially the same thing* 4 has been provided (as noted) 8 is available via web (not noted) * what the heck is Free Call Block. I think it came from a thread of the same name offering 'no cost' call blocking software. He missed additional area codes, peering to free Voip networks and the biggest, BYOD plans/SoftPhone on main number. People also want to call regional toll free numbers. Canadians want to call pizza hut and the UK has a bunch of issues that aren't even relevant to US readers. A little more work and he could have had an actual top 10 list. Oh well. |

1. Anonymous Call Rejection; 2. Anonymous Call Rejection; 3. Anonymous Call Rejection; 4. Anonymous Call Rejection; 5. Anonymous Call Rejection; 6. Anonymous Call Rejection; 7. Anonymous Call Rejection; 8. Anonymous Call Rejection; 9. Anonymous Call Rejection; 10. Anonymous Call Rejection;
Oh yeah, did I mention: Anonymous Call Rejection? |

Nothing like taking the wind out of his sails...
0, 1, and 6 aren't the same thing. "Free" Call Block is where you can enter in a specific phone number and it is blocked, unlike automatically blocking all "unknown callers" or "private Callers". 0 and 6 are usually the same thing, but call block is different. |

What I would like to see is similar to anonymous call rejection only the feature of giving the anonymous caller a chance to identify themselves by inputting their number. This would alleviate blocking wanted calls or still being able to receive phone calls from friends and relatives that block their numbers for legitimate reasons such as teenagers. |

The option to have Caller ID Block enabled as a default, and to deactive it on a per call basis.
By the way, what is "User Configurable Caller ID"? |

When someone gets a call from me, the name says "Vonage Holdings". For me then, user configurable caller id would be where I could tell it what to have the name read when someone looked on their caller id when I was calling in to them. I could have it read my name or a business name or whatever. In any case, much more descriptive than "Vonage Holdings" |

Thanks for the clarification regarding "User Configurable Caller ID".
I guess that hasn't been an issue for me since Vonage sends my phone number as my name, as well as my phone number as my number. Therefore, one sees my phone number listed twice.
However, I would definitely agree with the need to change the name if they were sending "Vonage Holdings". |
