I have recently been having problems with what believe to my RT31P2. After a reboot it doesn't even try to initalize the Phon1 or Phone2. In the normal boot process it seems first the Power light flickers for a moment, then the internet, and then the phone line lights, and finally any hosts that are plugged in that switch. Well my RT31P2 just seems to skip the initalizing of the phone lines. It was working fine for about a month and then this bull$h1t started to happen. As far as I know none of my network settings have changed since I have even had much time to use my computer. Any ideas people? I have what I believe to be the most current firmwares out there for this router

Main firmware: 1.28.00
Voice: ???? I can't see it since my router just says "Router still restarting. Please wait a moment" Even if it has been up for hours.

Yes, it's been brought up, but I've never seen a solution to the problem. Pretty much every single "Router is still restarting" post on this forum has ended with the person getting their router replaced. I suspect it has something to do with a problematic firmware update.

As paul mentioned. I did get a replacement RT31P2 and thing seem to be running fine. It has only been 2 days thought. Not a single dropped call or the phone not initalizing.

I have the same problem too, and im not using my router in the U.S. So it would be really be expensive to ship it and get a replacement. Can any one suggest any other way to solve this problem?

I would also like to know if a firmware upgrade would help, if yes...What is the quickest way to get a firmware upgrade?

When you get that message "router is restarting" in the Status>Voice section in the web config the voice module is not functioning and will not boot up.

If you've already done a powercycle and/or factory reset and that message still remains then it needs to be RAed. Essentially any remote updates Vonage does requires communication with the Voice Module. This is the Phone adaptor portion of the device. (its a hybrid phone adapter and 3 port ethernet router). You should still be able to go online but if that router is restarting message is still there after all that then it will not communicate with Vonage and will not take any remote updates or configuration settings.

You can try to do a manual firmware update but as i understand it, that has nothing to do with the phone module not initializing.

The only way my issue was fixed was with a replacement router. Since my replacement, I haven't had an issue since. I did try to call tech support and they were not able to help me. They told be about the factory reset but that didn't help. I did not do a firmware upgrade/re-install though. I had been reading about this issue on the forum here and all of the issues that sounded like my issue ended up requiring a hardware replacement, so I requested it.
