Hello all.... Let me preface this with I am not trying to do anything shady, just win a bet with a none-VOIP believer...
We have a round of cold beers on wether or not *67 calls can be traced back to the caller...ie if I call him hitting *67 first, he will be able to see who is calling...
I hope I can show him up because nothing would sound better than a cold Sam Adams tonight! |

This really depends on your friend's resources.
*67 sends a message with your caller id number telling the recipient's phone company to withhold the information. Therefore there are ways to get at the data. It used to be (1999) that caller id to ISDN lines could not be blocked. This is illegal so I am certain it has been corrected.
If your friend dials *69 following your call there is a chance that your number will appear in his billing information. There are other variations of this which all depend on the phone company storing the number and then revealing it to you as a side effect of some other function.
If you call an 800 number the calling party is identified in a mechanism different from caller id and cannot be blocked.
So, your beer is dependent on the actual terms of your bet and how smart your friend is. |

99% of all CID blocked telephone calls (if not all) can be traced if you have the correct subpeona. |
