Hello. before i describe my problems let me tell you that I have pretty much read all the posts on this forum! I have the Linksys WRTP54G router and an Orion 3000 Cable Modem from Time warner(road runner) I updated the Firmware to 1.029(on the router) as described in this forum. When people call my phone they get a temperarily out of service message and it takes about 5 trys to get through(not allways exactaly this). If I enable voicemail it doesnt not ring, goes straight to voicemail( but no "temp" message when voicemail is enabled). i have played with the delay seconds and it is the same problem. call forwarding is disabled. When i call out to a certain number(long distance) it always just rings and never picks up, and then try it with my cell phone i get through. When i call(other numbers) and get through after about 2 minutes it cuts out and drops me. and gives me a couple beeps. I have the bandwidth set to the lowest setting. My wireless internet has been flawless with this router i have not had any lost connections on the internet. please help me! I read a post about someone with the same voicemail issue but the thread didnt say if the issue was solved. Ive done reboots of the router and cable modem with no luck please help or im going to be forced to get rid of Vonage.

Here are the test results if you want to call them that, I disabled the windows Firewall also and still got this. Is my router not configured correctly?

Your computer couldn't call our location on the standard SIP port (5060) or a commonly available port (6000). This suggests that a firewall is blocking all UDP access including SIP. Please check the following:

* Your Personal Firewall, if you are using Windows XP, may be filtering the SIP and UDP ports used for communication.
* Your home firewall or your broadband provider's firewall may be blocking the SIP and UDP ports used for communication.

Please check these firewall settings and ensure that UDP ports 5060 and 50000 - 50100 are open for RTP streams and SIP signaling. Then re-run your test.

I was able to use the "Golden Phone" option from testyourvoip
Here are the results: I actually had the best conversation a few mins ago that i have had since i got Vonage. The person was still not able to get through to me(temporaily out of service) but i called them and it worked. Still unable to get through to my parents phone in a 315 area code. just rings and rings.

I own a PAP2 so I'm not sure how the WRTP54G works but do you still need to port forward the Vonage ports on the WRTP54G? This sounds like a port forwarding issue. I could be way off the mark though.

What would they port forward? The WRTP54G is both router and Vonage device, and they did not mention using any other routers...

I know it's an all in one device but I wasn't sure if the phone ports on the device somehow, someway ended up being the router portion of the whole device. I'm taking it based on your answer that the phone ports are totally independant of the router.

yes they are, and anyway, port forwarding is only needed in rare cases when talking about the average home user. and it applies to devices connected to the router via wireless, wired ethernet, not built in systems.
