I've had enough. Three months of double phone bills, transfer dates come and go, no satisfaction. If the number ever does get transferred from my landline provider, I'm cancelling Vonage and going elsewhere.

Vonage Says it will take a MINIMUM of 20 BUISNESS DAYS TO PORT A NUMBER. They are obviosley having a hard time getting it from your other phone provider cause they dont want to lose customers and because of that they will credit you until your number is ported.Vonage will give you credit if you call their Customer service department. Im sure of it

Why should we have to call for a credit. Why does it take so long? Yes, Vonage has to go through a 3rd Party, but the Cell phone industry has this down to under 1 hour. Anything more than a week is way to long.

"Cell phone industry has this down to under 1 hour"

Thats cause with Vonage, the "BIG BOYS" in the industry don't always want to lose their customers and will take their sweet time knowing that the customer may just say "I've had enough" like mpearce2. Believe me, its not their top priority to give up a number for a customer they are about to lose. And land lines are there main business, without land lines, they have no business

And they, plus Vonage will continue to lose business until they have a competitive product. Vonage, AT&T, even Verizon, and many others are getting into the Voip business because they can make money and the environment is unregulated. Yes, Verizon is losing my business, but the way these number transfer are going, Vonage isn't really winning my business.

Verizon is having to open up the local business because of deregulation so that they can get into providing additional services such as long distance, television, internet access (DSL isn't everywhere and will die as soon as FiOS is done).

Verizon Wireless is/was the "BIG BOY" in the cell phone industry. Cingular/AT&T is now the largest simply because of the merge. Yet, I can escape Verizon Wireless and go to any other Cell carrier within an hour. They aren't dragging their feet, and guess what!!! It's their only business. You'd think they'd be worse than the land line companies who offer additional services such as DSL, long distance, etc.

I have to disagree for one reason. Vonage can sign customers that have Verizon, Cablevision, and any other broadband provider. However, a company like Verizon(or any other) that has 500,000 customers for DSL can only offer their Voip service to their customers and may only get 75,000 lets say. They will always be capped at max by the amount of customers they have.

Verizon's VoiceWing product doesn't required DSL. Only a broadband connection. So anyone can sign up for it, just like Vonage.

mpearce2 I've been waiting since April 20th so I feel your pain. After many phone calls I was finally able to find out why it was taking so long... they submitted the wrong phone number. If you haven't already done so force Vonage to tell to what the problem is. You might have to call in several times but eventually someone will tell you what the deal is. Then post the reason here as someone might know how to resolve it. Good luck.

wrfeldmann,

Im not familiar with VoiceWing but that statement was general with Verizon as the example. But also remember, Vonage has the name recognition now as leading Voip service with the most customers of the market. I know they can fall, but right now they are on top.
Also it would be an educated guess to say that most(not all) people who have Verizon's VoiceWing, most likely have Verizon as there broadband provider

landline phone company's are all regulated by FCC, Voip is not. i belive this is an advantage for lanline companies... and take advantage of the voip's weaknesses... got the point
