My wife called me at work from home (vonage service is at home) yesterday, and we started to hear some static on the line. I offered to call her back. When I tried I got a male recorded voice that said, "System is on... System is on..." repeatedly. I hung up and tried again, but went right to voicemail. She called me back 5 min. later and all is well.
Anyone know what the deal is with this?

I do have an answering machine (my wife likes it better than VM), but she was on the phone that has it (will not engage) and, the phone never rang on the callback -- went right to the "system is on" guy. Also, I never had this happen with POTS.
