Hi,
I guess I'm one of the "lucky" ones in that it only took 83 days to get the transfer approved?
I received an email from Vonage on the 16th that the transfer would complete on the 17th. It's now the 21st and nothing's happened yet. What pitfalls can happen at this stage?
Thanks!

My transfer only took 1 day after being approved. You might contact your local carier, because one pitfall I could see coming is they could disconnect your number. If they think Vonage has it, and Vonage drops the ball, then you could end up without it. |

Let's see. . .the transfer to be completed on June 17 still hasn't happened as of August 9. Oh and requested on March 25.
Calls to customer service are useless and result in an automated email that someone is looking at the problem but no response by any avenue of communication ever happens.
Once I was chastised because I called customer service again after "only" seven days even though the automatron email said I'd receive a response within four days.
Vonage has done a super job of convincing us that LNP issues are completely beyond its control. However, LNP is offered as a feature with a general sense that it will take 20 business days. It's always someone else's fault. I certainly understand that there are many parties to these transactions but Vonage does NOT seem to have any ability or desire to try to solve the problems.
I've asked many times if there is anything that I can do to expedite the transfer and I've always been ignored. I'm willing to accept that there's some step that I may need to take to complete this transfer but I get no feedback. I've asked if I can contact the FCC, my state Utility Regulatory Commission, state legislators or federal representatives. Again no response. I understand that these mechanisms don't mean that my personal issue will be solved immediately but if Vonage is truly running up against regulatory hurdles then I'd assume they would welcome the grassroots help.
I understood since signing up for service that an Internet based phone solution WOULD NOT be as absolutely reliable as my POTS service from the remnants of the AT&T empire. There's about a century's worth of hardwired Cold War inspired infrastructure that brings me that dialtone. I accept the foibles of my Internet provider.
I accepted the lesser expectations but I did NOT expect the lack of concern and followup from a "21st Century" company.
About over it. |

It's my understanding that the FCC says 14 working days is sufficient to transfer a number to a new carrier. I have sent time warner and the FCC letters a month ago and still no transfer from time warner and no word from Vonage, basically no response from anyone. It's been 68 working days today since Vonage requested time warner to release my number.
I plan to cancel both time warner and Vonage and go to another Voip carrier. |
