We have the issue of the 2-line phones (POTS/VoIP) with a phonebook & we wish to prevent users accidentally dialing International calls using the POTS line.
(For various reasons we need to retain the POTS line.)
The Long Distance Domestic case can be solved by programming the phone book so that US Domestic numbers do NOT have the leading '1', thus the local TelCo does not connect the call but Vonage will.
Unfortunately, the Vonage interational prefix (011+Country Code) is also accepted by the local TelCo
My request is that Vonage create an alternate prefix for International calls that is blocked by the local TelCo.
Q: can there be a new prefix (0???) that Vonage could accept that the TelCo would block?
Thanks. |

If Vonage were to change the International Dialing code from the current 011XXXX, etc., it would generate countless calls to customer service from angry customers.
One suggestion would be to put all the International Calls on your Vonage Speed Calling and eliminate the international entries on your shared list. |

OOOOPS! Did I mess up! Vonage doesn't have Speed Dialing yet. I was thinking of my 'other' Voip service, as I DO have speed dialing to international numbers set up on that particular service. Sorry. |

Hi,
I was not suggesting that the International Code prefix 011xxxx be _changed_; I was asking for an _additional_ prefix that does not work through the local TelCo. I don't think an additional prefix would generate many extra support calls.
Yes, if Vonage Speed-Dial were available that would indeed be a solution. ==== |

Why don't you ask your POTS/LD carrier to block international dialing on that line. They should be able to do that but it will be hard coded. |
