Oops. I got the WRT54GP2. On the actual box it has
Vonage
the Broadband Phone Company.
Anyways, it appears that
Vonage
didn't switch over my Mac address just yet, but hey, now it works. So I guess I will leave it as a daisy chain connection until the phone goes out again. Thanks to everyone for your help!

I am having the same problem..all the sudden it seems. All was working fine last night.
I have been a
Vonage
customer for about 3 months now with very little problems, (on Vonage's side anyway). but for some reason, today when I try to make a call, there is no dial-tone. I came in and checked my router (Linksys rt31p2), the power light is on, the ethernet 1 light is on, the internet light is flashing quickly but the phone lights are off.
Here is my current set-up: Motorola Cable modem (SB5100)---Linksys
Vonage
router---D-link wireless router (DI-514)
The set up has been the same since we activated.
When I go to
http://192.168.15.1,
clicking on voice or status brings up a message stating that "Router is still restarting--please wait a moment"...I have waited almost 1/2 hour, still the same message.
I have also (as was told to the previous poster), unpluged everything and re-started them all in the order they are plugged in, still nothing.
Can't call customer service right now, as my cell phone isn't here, and obviously my
Vonage
line isn't working..
Please Help!!

Post subject: Same issue
Started today, linksys rt31p2 and it's been down all morning. The standard
Vonage
answer of reboot is getting tiresome. Having been around this bend a few times, I do the reboot cycle before calling them.
Now that the customer service is in India it's actually worse I think.
However, this is really curious. It's been down all day and the only solution I'm getting from these guys is reboot? Is that all they can suggest really?
Cable modem[3Com] -> Linksys RT31P2 -> Phone and Computer!

Funny (not), the same thing happened to me on Friday,
http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic6680.html
and guess which router I have, the rt31p2. Picked a great long weekend to go out, too. They're sending a new unit (got thte tracking number today), but I'm skeptical about whether it'll fix it or not, especially if it's the same model. Or, it'll be good for the same amount of time, then crap out again.

Post subject: Same thing!
Three hours of reset, reboot, reset, reboot, plug, unplug, hold thirty seconds, sixty seconds and more crap!
Finally switched back to the Motorola MTA that I fortunately hadn't shipped back to them and I have a phone line.
Perhaps the marriage can yet be saved! We'll have to wait and see.
Vonage
however is on it's last legs. If the replacement router doesn't work, or if the quality of the audio doesn't improve by leaps and bounds, I'm headed back to a regular land line.
Lots of people are headed back to the regular phone service I hear. I can't really blame them. I tried man! really tried. Close to two years and this just blows big time. The inconvenience isn't worth the $30 or so dollars I'm saving...not worth it!

I guess misery loves company. I was relieved to see that others have had frustrating dial tone problems with
Vonage
. This is day 5 without a phone. I have been through the 3 hours with tech support, plugging and unplugging, while most of the time not being able to understand the Indian accent on the other end. After wasting 3 hours of my time and cell phone minutes, they decided what I knew all along...I need a new router. I was told that they would ship overnight, but they did not. It will not arrive for another 2 days. I truly regret the day that I signed up with
Vonage
. If this router doesn't work, that's it. I have several friends who have signed up with Sunrocket, and have had nothing but great service. My next step will be to try them. I am advising everyone I know to stay away from
Vonage
. It just isn't worth the hassles. Good luck to all of us who have already been suckered in!!!

I see I'm not alone in my frustration. I've had
Vonage
for about 6 months now and I'm having my first problems.
My phone port lights are not coming on and I don't have a dial tone. I've done all the power cycles and reset crap that I can take.
I spent about 4 hours this morning on my cell phone explaining the problem to many of our Indian friends and not being able to understand what they were saying. Apparently they couldn't understand me either becuase they kept telling me the same thing over and over again and I had to keep explaining to them the same issue over and over. Then of course there were the constant forwarding of my calls and the occasional disconnect while on hold didn't really help my demeanor either. Last call with them I actually got what sounded like an American, she was pleasant sounding and I could understand her. Unfortunately, she was just there to tell me that they were really backed up and that they would call me back sometime today. ..... that was about 3 hours ago.

Has anyone looked into SunRocket? If I don't hear back from
Vonage
today, I think I'll be giving them a call. $199 for a full year sounds pretty good to me.

Yup. You have entered
Vonage
Hell. I once got through to an American-born, who laughed when I said, "Oh good!! Someone who speaks English!!". He said, "unfortunately, this company is ethnically challenged" and that he understood my frustration. Hope he didn't lose his job over that one! He wasn't able to help me, but turned me over to a co-worker who said that he could walk me through this in 3 minutes or less. Yippee!!! Only problem was that I had disconnected everything in frustration, and in preparation to send the router back, so I needed time to hook everything back up. I had been plugging and unplugging for so long that I needed time to figure out how to set things up again. He said he'd call back in 15 minutes. He never called.
Now I am waiting for the new router which was supposed to be here yesterday. I have requested one month's credit for all of my lost phone usage and frustration. No one has gotten back to me.
I don't hold a lot of hope for the new router. Next time there is any problem, I refuse to go through this nightmare again. That will be the end of
Vonage
for me.
Best wishes to you, but don't hold your breath!

Geez, I hope you get squared away ok. I'd hate to leave
Vonage
, like I said, I've never had a problem with the service until now. The frustration level is getting to a breaking point though. How many frickin times do I have to tell them the same thing?! Anyway, I guess I'll see what happens today. I was tempted to go buy a new router because I can't be without a phone for days. I have people staying with me and they're supposed to get calls early this week about jobs. I wonder if SunRocket can get me the equipment quicker .......
