Most posts regarding updates from .18 or .20 recommend disabling your wireless network (on by default after the reset to defaults) before doing the firmware upgrade. Apparently these earlier firmware versions have a problem with memory during the upgrade is wireless is enabled. |

I bought this router (WRTP54G) and it's currently at 1.0018.
Is it OK to pudate my firmware to the 1.00.55 version without letting Vonage know that I'm going to be doing this? I don't know if this will mess anything up on their side of the line.
Hoping that this will resolve some of the QoS and timeout issues that I'm seeing.
Thanks! |

You can certainly update the firmware without letting Vonage know, since they want you to get upgraded to .60 anyway. |

Thanks for the quick reply ausbeer!
Will the auto-upgrade work after I get to .55?
I tried disabling the wireless, unplugging the phone line and then power cycling the router but it never did the upgrade that I have heard it was supposed to do. |

It definitely should, getting off of the .18/.20 firmware is very hard, but once it goes through you shouldn't have any problems with the auto-update. |

again, thanks for the quick reply.
I just upgraded the 1st time to 1.00.55 with no problems, I guess it really is the wireless that mucks up the upgrades.
I'm seeing a LOT more options now as I was hoping to see.
Thanks for the advice and help. |
