I also installed the version at linksysinfo.org without any problems. Vonage seems to be having a problem with knowing if an upgrade took or not. They tried it 3 times on my router and all three times the CS rep said it was successful. Problem was that the status page on the router still said 1.00.18. AND the bugs still existed. I found the link for linksysinfo and did the install - status page now reads 1.00.29 and the bugs are gone. Audio quality (echo cancelation) is noticably better as well.

After having version 1.00.29 up for a couple of weeks, I've come home to see my firmware downgraded to 1.00.25. Does anyone know why the system would download an older version of the firmware over the newer 1.00.29?

hmmm... that's so weird... I've never heard a router downgrading firmware automatically... I would suggest to try upgrading the firmware again and see what happens

Clearly, your router is beginning to develop sentience. If you ever see the firmware version change to 1.00.25.is.alive, cut the power and run.

Yes, the router will show the accurate version, so your upgrade did not take. I had to manually install my firmware update, and even the manual install would not take until I first did a factory reset (apparently a failed Vonage update can leave behind corrupted files, preventing future updates until you first do a factory reset).

If you call Vonage, they will e-mail you the firmware update and provide you with the required passwords. I found them to be very helpful.

If you have a lot of port forwarding settings or other router customization, just remember to document your settings before doing the factory reset!

disable wireless mode on the WRTP and the firmware will complete every time. this will not be mandatory in future firmwares, as these firmwares are just so big they keep timing out, so in the future to come they will be smaller and smaller so no need to disable wireless. But give that a shot, should work fine.

How to do save your router configuration? I did not find this option

scroll dow in the webui screen, i believe you should see there accept or save settings

OK - I read everything and followed all instructions - it didn't work for me because I think my router was hung somewhere.

This was after 2 calls to Vonage, and 3 tries using the upgrade tool.

This is what worked for me:

I was on version 1.00.20

1) I saved my WEP key and other configuration settings using notepad for reference later....
2) Go to the following link: http://httpconfig.vonage.net/wrt-11.1.0-r021-1.00.55-r051013.img

(I believe this is a persistent link, however it is possible it was set up for me by the Vonage representative, if it fails call Vonage)

3) Save this file to your desktop

4) Take a paper clip and press the reset button for 10 seconds. The button is in the hole right next to the power connection.

5) Go to the following web page after the router boots (approx 20 seconds max). http://192.168.15.1/update.html
username = user
pw = tivonpw

6) click Browse and select the file you saved to the desktop: wrt-11.1.0-r021-1.00.55-r051013.img

7) Click Upgrade, you will see the progress bar advance, then the web page should fail.

8 - The Power light should begin to blink on the router, this indicates the router is upgrading its firmware (mine would not blink during any of the other upgrade processes I tried, only after using a paper clip to manually reset the router did it actually upgrade)

9) After the router is finished - go back to the main page, the top right corner should indicate the newest version 1.00.55
btw - default login to router is set back to admin, admin

This was the second time I called Vonage about this, this time they warm transferred me to a higher level of technical support and is how I got this to work.

Once the firmware is upgraded to 1.00.55 you will find the option to backup/restore the configuration under the administration menu.
