Hi all,
I've got a slightly weird network configuration. I have a router connected to an OpenBSD firewall, then thats connected to a switch, wih 5 or so computers running off it, including a cable downstairs to another machine, where I'd like the RT31P2 to go, however.
I planned to plug the existing cable into the RT31P2, then my existing machine into that, and use it like I do at the moment, however if I plug the uplink cable into the WAN port, my other machines can't access the machine behind the RT31P2, and it can't access them (but the Voip works) - NAT isn't an option because this machine has a real IP address.
If I plug the uplink into the LAN ports, I can't use the Voip, but the machine accesses and can be accessed fine. This seems to be because I can't set a default gateway for the LAN in the RT31P2's options.
Buying another switch isn't really an option, so I was wondering if I could configure the RT31P2 to access the Voip over the LAN port instead of the WAN one, or disable all the routing/firewalling junk and use it as a switch, with the WAN port as the uplink.
Cheers!

Yes, it's possible, but you only get 1 port.
On the RT31P2, connect one LAN port to the WAN port, connect another to the source, and connect the third to your computer.
Also turn off DHCP on the RT31P2, so that doesn't get in the way. |
