Post subject: Solved my LNP horror mystery
I'll try not to vent and keep this short.... My LNP story is like most problem ones here... no communication from
Vonage
at all and lame emails from the LNP dept when I call in. Back in April they told me my request was denied because the number I was trying to port belonged to a large corporate account. Of course they didn't inform me of this until I called to check on the status. After many hours on the phone with
Vonage
CS, SBC and I even had
Vonage
CS on a call to SBC with me once it seemed like things were going forward. Well of course not... after more calls and emails and promises nothing! The last time I called they even claimed that my port was completed. Of course no one got back to me. Now hold on.. the good part is coming... this week I noticed that people could not call me on my direct line at work... you guessed it! These people somehow took my work number. I think it's been that way for a week! Most of my calls come in from our other offices so that hid the fact that others couldn't reach me! SBC told our telecommunications person that Focal had the number! We call Focal and they say they got it for
Vonage
. They also have no record of any request for my home number which is the number I need transferred. Once again I call
Vonage
to tell them and once again they did not get back to me.
My LOA and SBC phone bill that I faxed to them clearly had my home number and only my home number on them. These people took the contact number from my account info and tried to port it! Talk about a complete lack of procedures/checks and balances!! I finally got through to LNP where it took at least 45 mins just for them to get a clue as to what they did! Of course they are going to get back to me in 1-2 business days. I'm not holding my breath! My firm worked with SBC and Focal to get the number back already. That process took all of 1 hour.. yep just 1 hour for Focal to give the number back to SBC! I wonder how long it will take
Vonage
to figure out we had the number taken back.
Now of course I still have to try and get the number I requested to transfer actually transferred. Sorry for the long post but it is a long story. Maybe this will help someone else.
So what do you all think I can get from
Vonage
for all of my trouble?

Mark sorry about the trouble this has caused you. If you send me your account number or the phone number you want ported I can look into this for you.

A good update...it finally happened! My number ported on June 28th! Granted
Vonage
didn't notify me of the blessed event but I saw the order on my SBC account so I was waiting for it.
