No, this came from
Vonage
LNP. I'm afraid to talk to SBC about it for fear that they'll disconnect the account or cause other problems.

I just signed up for
Vonage
a few days ago. I'm transferring a number from Verizon. They seem to be getting pretty fast with the part that they can control, from what I see:
Updated Date: Number Transfer Progress History:
February 11, 2004 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
February 12, 2004 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
February 13, 2004 Transfer Sent to Carrier

Here's mine:
November 24, 2003 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
November 25, 2003 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
December 22, 2003 Transfer Sent to Carrier
January 29, 2004 Carrier Approved Transfer
January 31, 2004 Completed LNP Transfer
Two months, and the xfer failed. I didn't actually get it until a few days ago. That makes it about 10 weeks - a far cry from 15-25 days. Don't ask me why it took a month for the "Transfer Sent to Carrier" part of it.
Be prepared. I did it with Verizon also.

My experience is a D I S A S T E R so far. Ever since Feb 12, My existing number is not able to receive calls on either the POTS line or the
Vonage
line. Inbound callers hear a recording (woman's voice) that says "We're sorry your call did not go through. Will you please try your call again later". My virual number and ATA work perfectly. This is very messed up. No one can call my real number. .. what if this had been a business number?
Here's my LNP history:
January 31, 2004 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
February 01, 2004 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
February 02, 2004 Transfer Sent to Carrier
February 12, 2004 Carrier Approved Transfer
SBC took the legal maximum - 10 days - to approve the transfer. (How nice for them).
Vonage
has been speedy. But who cares about the speed of the porting process if numbers get dropped like this?

Your situation is probably the same as what happened to me -
Vonage
got the transfer, but they didn't finish things on their end.
What will happen next is that your virtual number will turn off in two weeks after the "transfer". Then, no on will be able to call you.
I tried calling with this situation, but that DOES NOT WORK. They'll transfer you to the number portability group, which will either have a full mailbox or will ignore you.
If you haven't done so, send them email about this immediately to their tech support email address. This will get a ticket number attached to the situation, and someone will be forced to clear the issue up. It took me two days of limbo before that happened once I sent the email, but it did get fixed.

I've called the number port group three times over the past week and I've never had a problem getting through. I've never had to wait on hold and have never had to leave a message.
Here is the number that I have for them....

I tried the LNP number again and a
Vonage
LNP picked up. But they were not able to determine the problem. They will talk to the engineers and call me back..
