For anyone following my number transfer saga....

Well I got a call from XO Communications yesterday. They recieved the complaint from the Public Utilities Commission that I filled out, so they are talking to me now.

After explaining what Vonage is to the XO rep, we called Vonage CS together. A number transfer rep got on the line and explained a little more as to the relationship between XO and Vonage (for my particular area... Vonage has many such relationships for different areas). There's apparently one person in XO (in Texas) that is authorized to talk with one person at Vonage on the issues of number transfers. Talk about "a single point of failure".

The XO rep, with her better understanding of the XO/Vonage relationship, said she would contact this guy in Texas to try and track down what the hold up is and then give me a call back. She has been very helpful so far. I think she is beginning to understand my frustration as well. The transfer process is very obtuse.

I'm not sure how much she'll be able to get done before a holiday weekend, but my expectations are pretty low... so... things are going fairly well.

I really don't think I should be this involved as a customer though. I am doing what I think Vonage personnel should be doing.
