Does anyone knows if there is still no SDK/API for vonage product?
If no, is there any development in that direction ?
Vonage should think of the impact of releasing SDK that would boost the development of their product and push the marketing aspect as well.
If there is no SDK for Vonage, is there any framework or SDK for SIP existing out there (which would greatly reduce the develpment time !).
In advance thank you. |

There is no Vonage API at this time. The only function that they have made directly available is Click-2-Call which is available via a https call.
There is a SIP SDK available from Xten. It would only work with the optional softphone product.
Several people have developed utilities using screen scraping. |

I would also love to see an API for the Vonage services. Look at the success of flickr and google maps. It's because they've allowed others to develop applications integrating what they offer in combination with other services to make the whole greater than the sum of the parts.
I would like a Vonage API to allow these things:
- Get a list of recent received and dialed calls along with the detail, caller ID, etc.
- Access the voicemail system. List, retrieve, delete the messages, etc.
- Register a web service to ping with phone events such as ringing and caller ID info on incoming calls. (Bonus points for optional compatibility with YAC http://sunflowerhead.com/software/yac/ )
- Set my caller ID name to custom text.
- Initiate conference calls.
- Get status and set forwarding numbers.
- Upload an audio file for your voicemail message and maybe set a schedule for its use.
- Get status and set any options available in the dashboard. |

I second the call for an API. I was just thinking that what the voicemail feature needs is RSS syndication. I don't want my mail box filling up with junk. But, if I could just get access to the basic voicemail data I could generate an RSS feed and then subscribe to it.
It seems so obvious...why hasn't Vonage implemented it?!?
P.S. - Obviously you would need to use HTTP authentication of some kind. |

I agree, an API would make things alot easier for those of us who want to devlop our own additions to the service
I'm working on the "Access the voicemail system. List, retrieve, delete the messages, etc." part using the POP3 interface...
One of you might have come across it recently because I noticed at least one google seach in my logs from someone looking for "vonage voicemail api" in the past couple of days... if not, you can see what I'm working on at: http://www.bussetech.com/vm2pc (I've been pleasantly suprised by the number of people who have signed up for the email list to be notified when it is released)
I may work on hacking together some of the other desireable features but finding the time to get this part completed has been hard enough (I am hoping to have v1.0 out before Dec 1 though)
If there were enough of a call (no pun intended) for it, I could probably adapt what I'm working on into a POP3 -> RSS voicemail app/service, but I'm not sure how useful that would actually be (some of that might have to do with my own resistance to using an RSS reader... I should probably give them another chance).
I have a feeling that Vonage just doesn't have the same philosophies/priorities as google and fliikr when it comes to opening up the framework. |

I have seen some business abilities of changing instant messenger to "on the phone" automatically using the phone system and some API through a desktop client. I would love to have this feature available through vonage, and would be willing to work on the IM interface if a vonage API was available. |

We made the huge stride of getting the phone integrated into tcp/ip,.. now where are the applications? I just don't get what is taking so long?
I would be more than happy to switch to a provider that does offer an api, much like many users here.
Anyone know of some software that is available or a provider that DOES offer an API? |

Has anyone heard any updates on this? Is there any plan for an API? |

I wouldn't give up hope that Vonage will release an API and/or 3rd party developer program in the near future. |

Hi. Do you mind if I bring up this thread here?
I have Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and I'd like to be able to write an application that notifies me when I receive a TTY call. |
