Surfing around the new WRTP54G (ver. 1.00.29) setup tabs today and I noticed that in the Status --> Voice tab it reads "Provisioning failed". My service has been pretty good that last day or so after some firmware issues. Does anybody know what this means? |

Mine reads the same way, and my service seems to be fine (after the update to ver. 1.00.29 Thanks!! ). I was thinking about calling Vonage, but have not had the time. |

Mine has said the same thing since I installed mine. Tech could not tell me why it said it had failed. I talked to 2 different techs and they both give the excuse these are new units and they have not yet received training on them. |

That's a pretty sad, yet brutally honest, comment by Vonage. Now, hindsight is always 20-20...if I had to do it all over again, I would've never purchased a bundled Linksys/Vonage device. It just seems that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Correct? That said, by keeping our WRTP54G, we've unknowingly become BETA testers...and that smells rotten. |

hmm... seems i'm having the same problems...i had firmware 1.00.18 and had huge problems with my phone service and internet connection. i called vonage tech support and after 30 minutes on hold, a tech guy finally tells me that i've been having problems downloading the new firmware. then i said, "what the heck, i didn't download anything!" sheesh, the darned router downloads on its own...great. so finally the tech guy does something and the router downloads the firmware properly. and another thing...to follow the thread discussion...the techs don't know what the provisioning failed message means. they keep calling it a glitch in the router. |

The WRTP54G and RTP300 are both running Linux. That means more potential for advanced features and third-party enhancements, but there's also more opportunity for stuff to go wrong.
I'd give it a few months for them to work all the kinks out. They could turn out to be pretty solid devices. |

Hate to say "me too", but ME TOO.
The service works fine, but the Voice Status tab on my WRTP54G says "Provisioning Failed".
It would be nice if a Vonage rep on this forum could provide an explanation. |

I guess your search came up with something different, so here's what my search revealed:

Last night my router tried to update and it just sat there, with the network down for hours. After restarting it, it failed again...
Finally I read on another thread that this router has problems with firmware updates when wifi is enabled so I turned off the wifi and the router updated itself within minutes.
Mine is running 1.00.37 and says provisioning succeeded in the voice status tab.
I also noticed they changed the QoS interface and enabled remote SSH access to the router. |
