Just last weekend, I reported to Vonage that my phone will ring every time after I finished a call and hand up. The tech support did some thing and asked me to reboot the router. After that, the issue was resolved. However I got a new problem with internet connection. Every 5 seconds or so, the connection gets lost, then it reconnects again, although the phone works all time. I resolved (temporary) this problem by putting up a second linksys router which connects my cable modem, and then connects the router with phone ports connects that router. Now both (internet and phone)works, but what is wrong here? Apparently it is not ISP provider's problem, since the phone works.

I have a similar problem with the resetting thing, it doesnt happen THAT frequently but i get disconnected alot. I use the internet for school and gaming, as well as downloads and uploads of work, so when i lose my connection i have to start over sometimes. My IP address is being reset all the time by the router, and i KNOW its the router because i checked with my ISP, checked the modem company and even swapped out routers with the old one i had for a day. Nothing else would make me drop as much as this one has, actually i didnt drop at all using my old dlink DI-604. Its like pulling teeth trying to get customer service to understand the simple concept that these routers suck, my wife has had to explain to multiple different people in one phone call whats wrong and they keep saying manually reset the router. Not the issue. The router ****. Hell my connection and phone got dropped while typing this and waiting on the line with customer service! Hows that for a good time?

This looks almost as if someone just created 2 accounts in a row for the sole purpose of bashing Vonage, but I'll assume that's not the case...

Anyway, if the Vonage rep made a change that caused your connection to do crazy stuff, then your best bet is probably to call back and get someone to fix whatever they broke.

just came on to add my piece. Ive had them reset some settings but it didnt change anything, this has happened since we got the service from day one.

im not sure what all they can do for a router that like to reset IP addresses though, i dont know THAT much about networking and what not to know what they can do so it kinda doesnt make sense to me. I also read alot of people have the problem in the forum topic here

quite a few pages of people telling the same problem and others trying to help fix. tried everythign there and thought maybe this thread might gain some recognition by other users who might know whats up or if they have had this problem and had it fixed, let us know how.

I have had the same issues. It happens about once every couple of hours, while just simply surfing the net. Vonage did replace my router, but it keeps happenening. I never, ever had this problem with just the modem which now I went and bought a new Motorola Surfboard and it works great, but the Linksys router still resets every couple of hours. Very annoying.
