The Vonage story: 1. called, signed up, got router, waited on hold a couple hours, got a new router.
2.Got new router, no dial tone, same problem as first one, called Vonage, waited on hold a few hours finally got through to an awesome american tech. Finally got the downloads to take over the net overnight, tech called me the next day and I told him it still wasnt working. Tech switched it to phone port 2, router has been working ok.
3. router has been working for about 2 weeks and now no dial tone and phone light is blinking. I power cycle the router and the ohone works again, but allmost once a day i have to power cycle the router to get a dial tone, but the internet will be working just fine. I dont have the patience to wait on hold again so I sent in an email about a week ago but still no response.
4. What it the next step ?
(i hope this post has enough flowers in it so the admins dont lock it) It seems if Vonage had good support they wouldnt get bashed. |

I had a similar thing happen when I accidentally left a cordless phone off the hook. How many phones do you have connected to the line? |

ISP: Roadrunner (time warner) Cable modem : toshiba pcx2200 Router/gateway/phone adapter linksys RT31P2
Netowrk setup :
cable modem--->>>router---->>>switcH ->>>computers/wireless access point
and obviously the phone plugs into the router
I had the router hardwired to my home phone lines but it is not at the moment for troubleshooting purposes.
By hardwired I do not mean plugged into a jack, I have run my entire home with cat5 and have a patch panel installed so it was a matter of plugging the phone lines from the router to the panel and letting them connect to 3 of the home jacks. This internal wiring does not have any contact with the outside world including the phone company's old box. |

home from work now, the router status page is giving me the same problem that I had with the first router and the same error i had when port 1 was activated on this router just that the call1status is invalid. If I reboot the router sometimes the phone will work but only for a call or 2. The internet access allways works.

I also got the "Invalid" message when I left my phone off the hook. Are you sure the same thing happens with any phone you connect to it? Or maybe your phone cord has a short inside. |
