I am trying to setup a new instalation I have a cable modem, followed by a wireless modem, followed by the RT31P2. I get some activity when first pluged in but never a dial tone. I am using a Vertec 5.8 wireless phone connected to port 1 of the RT31P2.
I never see the phone lights blink except at the very first but never again.
I have is set up like it is shown on the Vonage setup/html
Any suggestions on how to make it work?
Thanks Roger |

What are the model numbers on your cable modem and "wireless modem"? Where are your PCs connected? Does the Internet access work for them? |

Cabel Modem form Comsat is a Motorola SBK200 followed by a Linksys Wireless router BEFW1154 followed by a Linksys Router RT31P2 followed by a Vtech IP 5850 cordless phone
One of my PC is connected directly to the BEFW1154 the other 2 are connecyted via a wireles card in the PC.
If I hook my laptop the the RT31P2 I can connect to the internet with no problem.

First, are you sure you're using the 12V power adapter that came with the RT31P2? A few people have tried using the 5V adapter from another Linksys router, and have had no phone service as a result.
If that's not the problem, then connect the RT31P2 directly into the cable modem, and cycle the power on both.
If putting the RT31P2 first in line fixes the voice, then you'll probably want to stop using the router functionality on your BEFW11S4, and instead use it as just a bridge between the wired and wireless. That consists of:
1. Disable DHCP on the BEFW11S4 2. Set the BEFW11S4's LAN IP to 192.168.15.2 3. Leave the BEFW11S4's WAN port empty 4. Connect a cable from a LAN port on the BE to a LAN port on the RT
So, the RT will be a router that serves the entire network. You'll be able to go to 192.168.15.1 to configure the RT, and 192.168.15.2 if you need to tweak some wireless settings. |

I am sure about the power cable.
I tried to put the rt first before but tried it again and get the same basic results. No phone lights except that they blink at the begining of the power on but never after that.
What would the phone lights do if the phone was no good?

The light should be solid. When you connect a phone and pick it up, it should start blinking.
what does your voice status page show?

Well here is what I tried to do with no success.
Removed the RT from everything and put it next to my PC
Connect my pc to the RT by connecting a cat 5 from the pc network connection to the lan on the RT.
Tried to connect to it using http://192.168.15.1
I can not connect. Am I doing it right. I also tried to ping the same address but no success the request timed out.
Tried to reset the RT and tried everything again. No luck.
Any suggestions?
