That could be good news Trigga!
Sky claimed that they had had one dial back from my system ... but I've never seen it happen. Might give viewing statements a go.
Can you post your hardware details as well as your settings when you get it working again ... Eg Make/Model of Sky digi-box and which Vonage router you're using. |

just been charged an extra £32.50 (will recur) for the privilege of having two sky boxes and a Vonage account.
I spoke to my favourite Sky Customer Services - if I get the phone fixed they'll consider crediting my account for the extra £32.50 charges.
Thank you, so much, Sky and Vonage.
The real crying shame is, when I gave up my NTL phone account NTL tried to persuade me to keep the NTL line at no monthly charge! Of course I said, no, Vonage are still much cheaper. Aaargh.
I can't leave Vonage - the hassle of another phone number change is not good. (Wife Acceptance Factor).
I can't drop Sky - it is a lot better than NTL and Freeview.
(Kids Acceptance Factor).
Looks like I'll have to get an NTL phone line just for Sky!! Maybe drop a package from Sky. (NTL still cheaper than BT).
Or maybe go to BT for phone and broadband - what happened to NTL 8mb for all? |

Gone for NTL's most basic phone service, another £7 pcm ontop of 2mb broadband.
Hmmm ... how much a month is Vonage? |

Now have a Vonage and a NTL phone!
So, I tell Sky I have connected and they agree dial back is now working from the same phone number on both boxes. They then say the Service number (ie dial back number) and my home phone number have to be the same!!
So I tell them home number has changed to the NTL number... just hope they don't try and call me cos it'll ring into their boxes and nowhere else.
Sky say they'll review my case and consider giving me a refund of the additional charge....
However to me it seems they're changing the rules:
1. "Digital" phone connections not supported
2. Service and home number must be the same
aren't in the ts and cs?!
Despite paying £7 extra pcm for the Sky line I believe Vonage are still good value. |

YOU SHOULD NOT PAY at the end of the day its not your fault it is sky there contract states that it must be connected to a telephone line there is no definition of telephone line in the sky contract so a voip line is ok plus if you ask ofcom they state vonage is a British Telco provider, force skys hand it is them at fault due to there modem not meeting industry standards and allowing connection at a slower speed. example of this is simple to connect equipment to a BT line it must conform to ofcoms telecommunication standards which all telcos must follow only sky forces there modems to connect at 56k or v90 I ask you what happens to people who live more than 2-3 miles from an exchange and there line quality is so bad they cannot connect via a modem faster than 28.8 sky doesn’t charge them extra I no because a friend of mine has a similar problem and he has never bin charged I my self have had a few letters stating my box will not connect I defiantly will not be paying extra ill cancel before paying more and if they want the box to dial home they can pay for the line to be installed and maintained not me. There only after the free stats they sell on to other company’s about you viewing habits any way so they should pay for it |

I have received the suggested credit from Sky (for the extra charge they levied because callback didn't work).
Attaching the sky boxes to the NTL line enabled me to view my Sky statements ... and I see that I have been charged for Box Office in May and October 2005 ie when I only had the Vonage telephone line connected.
In other words, my sky digiboxes did successfully connect to Sky through Vonage. Evidently only rarely though. Unfortunately not once per month from each box, otherwise I wouldn't need an NTL line and a Vonage line! |
