Hello.
I have been trying for the longest time to get vonage(linksys adapter) to work on a network that does not have a DHCP server(or a firewall)
I basically just have a Data T1 going into the network and I have plugged the Vonage box into it the network. There is no firewall and no DHCP server.
The internet light flashes but it will never get the phone line to turn on.
I have tried to manual set the IP address, subnet mask, gateway, DNS but still nothing.
Does anyone know if a DHCP server is a necessary to get the Vonage to configure or is there any trick to this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks. |

definitely not necessary. think of all the dsl users. you are trying to manually set it in http://192.168.15.1 right? there's a box to set your Internet Connection Type and then brings up boxes for the info. does internet access work when you have a computer plugged into it? and specify what device you have, that makes a big difference. I'm assuming rt31p2. |

What is the network configuration on your workstation that uses the T1? (IP,Subnet,DNS,Gateway)
What is the network configuration on your TA (Vonage box)? (IP,Subnet,DNS,Gateway)
Have you been able to access the TA (Vonage box) to configure it? |

Hi.
I am not sure if this matters but I configured the box at a friend's house(using comcast cable internet) and used the default IP address to access the web admin then I took the box to the network using the T1.
I have had trouble accessing the web admin on the other network.
I am going to have to double check to see if a computer's internet will work when placed in that network. That is a very good suggestion. I will get back with the results as soon as I get them.
Thanks for your help. |

Hello.
I'm not sure if this should be a new post or not.
I changed the DNS and got a dial tone however the phone line did not light up at all.
When I dial a number, there is a gap for about 20 seconds and there is a extremely distorted ring but that's it.
Has anyone heard of something like this before?
Thanks. |
