I'd really appreciate anyone who could help with this one, i'm sure its an easy answer. Once i signed onto Vonage and received their router i gave away my old dlink to my mother, short story short winmx worked on the old router and now on the new linksys it will connect, let me search, but then the download stalls out attempting to start. I shouldn't need to add any udp or tcp ports since its not required to download with winmx(and wasn't done on my old router) Anyone have any quick solutions besides throwing a different router infront of the linksy. Many thanks in advance! |

WinMX certainly does work better if you forward it some TCP and UDP ports. If you run through the setup wizard, it lets you choose which ports, and tests them for you.
As to why it used to work, and doesn't now... maybe you were just lucky before, and found more people who had their ports open? |

It's possible that WinMX was using UPnP to open ports automatically on your other router.
Try enabling UPnP in the "Administration > Management" section of the router config. |

Not sure why it worked before without doing anything but you need to port forward Port 6699 TCP and port 6257 UDP to the machine that has WinMX on it. I think WinMX also allows you to change those ports if they are in conflict with another program in which case you would need to forward on whatever ports you set up for WinMX. |

i believe you can use the access logs on the router to view the ports that you need to trigger |

Yeah I opened up the ports I need for Winmx and it still not working. I even called Linksys customer support and they don't even know what to do. |

Did anyone solve this problem? I have a linksys WAG54G and cant solve the problem.
I have opened up the ports 6257 and 6699 and it still doesnt work. I can search but not download anything. I would be really gratefull for the help as I cant seem to solve it.
Are there are any websites or other forums that would help?
Thanks
