I was informed last night after I could not get the Indian call center rep to give me a straight answer to a simple question that Vonage has call centers in both countries. I have done a search on this from other forum members and find that all have similar complaints.

I thought I read somewhere that Vonage would not be doing this as most companies that do this get very negative feedback. If Vonage is doing this to cut down on complaints about long waits for customer service reps then it will back fire on them for sure.

I have been living in the Philippines for 26 years and have had numerous Philippine employees over the years. They can speak English at a comfortable level and a lot of them can quote you the English language rules better than I know them. But I have noticed most of them that have learned their English in the local schools are very weak when it comes to conversational English. If they grew in a two language home like my kids did then this tends not to be a problem.

If you try dealing with their customer service personnel at the Philippine cell phone companies forget it. They have their little script that they keep repeating incessantly like "we are sorry for this problem" or "no problem we will make note of that and get back to you". They never do unless you demand to get the name of their supervisor and then I will get a call back from the supervisor. At this level they are usually pretty good but then their hands are tied by the bureaucratic nature of the way these companies are run. I would say it usually takes me 3 and 4 times longer to solve a problem with them versus a US customer service rep.

I hope that this is only an interim measure until they can get US workers trained and on the job. I believe myself and many others will look elsewhere for Voip service if they use them on a permanent basis.

Why pay a US CSR 14.00/hr when you can pay someone in india 1.00/hr or less. All the jobs are going overseas. Deal with it.

AMEN to that...for two months I have been trying to get my phone number transferred and keep getting "the same script." Vonage appears to be making a ton of money..why not quality customer service...I love the features,etc but paying for two phone companies,having the people who purchased my house angry at us because they cannot get phone line or 911 service because I have to keep account open with original company to keep phone number...fcc in america says phones companies do not have to share their lines so my company cannot port the number..thus switch to Vonage...recently Vonage has been saying my company is dragging their feet which is not the case..please take the canned script away from these guy's and let them talk to us and get matters resolved..it even has gone so far as Vonage not giving my company information because I believe they actually do not understand and go to their script Sad Question

I dont even bother calling CS anymore. I never have any Vonage issues anyway. I do call from time to time so they can push new firmware and usually get an american on the line after about 50 minutes Rolling Eyes As for the india/indonesia call centers, alot of companies such as DELL stopped outsourcing due to customer complaints. I refuse to call microsoft tech support anymore due to the fact that everyone speaks broken english and after 4 calls one day I could not understand all 4 of them.

It's true that Vonage has offices worldwide. The DIRECT SALES department is in the Phillippines. I just want to clarify that we are not handling calls for existing customers. The only time that you may have talked to us was when you inquired or signed up for the service.
