Specifics are: Rockville, MD : April 5, 2005 - Awaiting Letter of Authorization April 8, 2005 - Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received April 8, 2005 - Transfer Letter Sent to Carrier Today, June 6, 2005 I decided to call rather than email. My original "tentative" date was June 2nd. That came and went so I emailed and got what appears to be a standard response. Of course, discussing a credit with anyone at Vonage is out of the question. I've "had" the service for 2 months and, in my opinion, I can't use it because my existing number hasn't transferred. I do have 1 phone in the house hooked up to it, but it's not in a convenient location. I figured, no big deal. When it starts ringing and the house phone doesn't, I'll cut the verizon line and hook up the Vonage one. Unfortunately, I don't know when that day will come. I did what some have suggested and check verizon via the web site. No order/repair activity shown at all. This includes the repair verizon had to do because the phone line was ripped off the side of my house (along with the broadband, cable, connection) by a very large moving van. Talk about people reading from scripts. Tech support with Verizon and Comcast was a joke, but at least Comcast got there within 24 hours to repair. Verizon took 5 days. How can I find out the name, and maybe a contact person at the 3rd party involved in this. I actually had a person at Vonage tell me that they use a 3rd party, but they wouldn't give a name. I've spoken with at least one "supervisor", and requested a call back to my cell phone by the end of the day from that "supervisor's supervisor", that was at about 4:30pm and it is now 11:00pm and no call. Of course, getting to a human (regardless of geographical location) is next to impossible, their voice menu system is pure evil. I voiced that problem and got a laugh from the tech support person saying that he'd heard that before. Guess they can get that right either. Congrats to all who got their number transferred in record time (< 20 days). Condolences to all who have waited longer. If and when all my credits run out (2 months for signing up through a friend and a month or 2 for having a friend sign up) I'm going to have to have the credit card changed, or call Visa and have them stop payments. If I'm not getting proper service, I'm not paying the bill. I also see a letter to FCC, president of Vonage, president of Verizon, and (if I can find out) president of the telephone company that Vonage uses. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find out who to specifically talk to at Verizon. Vonage says it's done by email. Just so happy to hear that given the number of emails I toss everyday because their junk. |
