Just got my VT1005. Have it hooked up the following way: Broadband Modem ->Netgear MR314 Router ->4 PC's, 1 wireless laptop and now VT1005.
Everything is working fine so far. My question is does the VT1005 have to be connected to a PC to access the config page? Isn't there away to access the page through any computer on the LAN?
I've tried accessing http:\\192.168.102.1 and the DHCP given address of 192.168.0.7. No luck.
Any help?

there is a web page to configure it at 192.168.102.1. But in order to get to it, you need to connect ot the LAN ethernet connector, not to the WAN connector.
By default, the vt1005 should have the dhcp server configured to hand out appropriate ips at the LAN side. Don't plug it into the linksys to avoid a conflict (two dhcp servers offering conflicting ips) |

So are you saying it is possible to access the VT1005 through the LAN? I just have to take out the connector from WAN and move it to LAN? |

you need to use two connections. Here is what you do:
1. disconnect one of your PCs from the LAN and connect it to the LAN plug in the vt1000 2. pickup an IP from the vt1000 and access the web based admin at 192.168.102.1 3. use the web based admin to turn off the build in dhcp server 4. disconnect the PC, and connect the LAN plug from the vt1000 to your hub/switch/router (has to be connected to an uplink port or use a cross over cable)
You need to keep the WAN port connected, as it is used for the phone calls.
So you will end up with two ethernet cables from the vt1000 to your switch. |

Couldn't wait until morning. Got into VT-1005 and turned off DHCP and assigned it a static address. Now I have to wait until morning to build a cross over cable. I can't use my uplink port on my switch because my router plugs into it. Time for bed...have a nasty cold coming on.

Damn couldn't wait! Made cable but no link lights on switch. The old eyes aren't what they used to be(even with glasses). Used a straight patch cable on uplink port, changed some cables around on my switch and have link lights on switch for both cables out of Vt1005. I can ping VT1005 (192.168.0.7) but still can't open up config page. |

Hooked the Vt1005 back to a PC and realized I didn't go into the advanced section and turn off DHCP. Saved it and rebooted. Still no access.
Should I be assigning this a static address or let it my router assign it through DHCP? Right now I have -
static address - 192.168.0.7 mask - 255.255.255.0 gateway - 192.168.0.1
Going to bed now!

It's my understanding that Vonage has that locked so users can't change the configuration. You can download the ATA technical manual and it tells you how to set the configurations but Vonage has most of these blocked. |
