Hi, there. Maybe this is just from the switch from the ATA to the MTA. At first I got really excited to see "Out of Area" on the phone because the ATA never showed even that. BUT after a full 24 hours, that's all I've ever seen is "out of area" or "unknown name." Hopefully this just means that caller id with name hasn't been implemented in my area code yet? I keep hoping to get that feature operational.
Anybody else in Tennessee have it working? |

I think Vonage still has problems with caller id in some areas. Its a function of the interface with the local phone company I guess. |

hi, siphack! Although another Nashvillian in 615 reported on dslreports.com Voip forum that he got name caller id on 12/16/03, support says "huh-uh." the actual "out of area" is on my Panasonic desk phone -- corded one line, caller id call waiting. It's not SHOWING THE NUMBER ANYMORE EITHER!! It had the number with the Cisco. I emailed Brian at Tech and asked him what's up because this is a step backwards for the Panasonic for sure. I'm going to DIE if they say to ditch the phone. I went through about four or five desk phones with call waiting caller id to find one that would work with the Cisco. Sob.
I hope we get names soon. I'm really anxious for it. I miss that from Bell. I don't miss the bill -- just the names. <GG>

can't help with that . I use the motorola box and a Siemens phone in (617). No issues so far (but I haven't paid attention to the names). |

siphack:
Motorola cordless and GE corded phones are getting the number with "unknown name."
good news is no reboots since 1/1/04 at 1:30 p.m.
bad news is no stutter tone anymore when messages are sent. (tech opened a ticket on it.)
cutting edge sometimes means bleeding edge. I'll use the $80 a month I'm saving on Bell for bandaids. |
