Well I finally got the email just now -- one saying it would be transferred on the 30th, and then another one immediately after saying it had been transferred. I've never been so happy to see an email in my life Smile

This has been my only complaint about Vonage -- otherwise, I have had ZERO problems. Now I need to start working on my friends -- I've gotten used to not paying for Vonage (with my monthly credits), and maybe I can get a few friends to get me a few more free months.

I tried to transfer my number from Cox. It was denied, I called them and was told "Cox will not deal with an unregulated phone company."

eLNP from SBC to Vonage in Rockford, Illinois

First friends line:
July 28, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
July 28, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
July 29, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
August 4, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
August 9, 2005 Completed LNP Transfer

Second friend's line:
July 28, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
July 29, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
July 29, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
August 5, 2005 Carrier Approved Transfer
August 9, 2005 Completed LNP Transfer

I think, generally, this eLNP thing is working really well. I had no problems. Some people are getting unlucky because of their current phone provider. As stated above, they are just being a pain in the rear and not wanting to let the line go to Vonage. But I think overall, Vonage took a good step towards eLNP. What took 1.5 months before, now takes 1.5 weeks, I say that's a good improvement; atleast in my area.

I've been waiting since May 16 for time warner to transfer my number to Vonage. Vonage customer service says they have no control over the release date except to send e-mails requesting a release date to time warner. which they say they have done only three times since I signed up with them, all when I have called requesting status. Apparently no follow up on their requests.

Incidently, the FCC says that 14 working days should be sufficient time for a company to release a number to a new provider. To date I am 63 working days into my release with no end in sight.

I'm going to cancel both time warner and Vonage and go to "team talk" Voip with a new number and a cheaper monthly rate. Very unhappy with both current carriers.
