Well, maybe it's just my number ...
I've had three or four e-mail exchanges with
Vonage
CS about it, and one phone call that got me two months credit for my service, but still no number changeover. The CS e-mail this morning (in response to yet another e-mail from me) was:
Quote:
... we have escalated your transfer with the carrier and we are currently working to obtain a finalized transfer date pretty soon.
which sounds better than
Quote:
At this time we are working with the carrier to complete your transfer as soon as possible. (29 July)
or
Quote:
In response to your inquiry, we are currently reviewing your account progress and will provide you status update as soon as possible. (25 July)
or
Quote:
At this time Vonage's carrier is working on your request. I have requested a status from the carrier that is handling your request. (11 July)
Hopefully, "pretty soon" will mean within the next week or so ...

eLNP from Cox. Transfer date is 8/25. I had to contact Telcove (clec) to get results. They didn't want to help until I told them I had been waiting since March. Telcove called back with a transfer date next day.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
I got this interesting email below late this afternoon from
Vonage
:
"Dear xxxxxxx,
I have looked into the status of your order and our third party
carrier has informed me that there is a tentative date on your
transfer of 8/30. This date may change in the future. When we
receive a confirmed transfer date we will inform you as soon as
possible.
Sincerely,
Tom
Customer Care"

Knock on wood, but I just got an e-mail ...
Quote:
The carrier has issued a tentative transfer date for 8/18/2005. Please keep in mind that this date is subject to change and is not necessarily the date your transfer will take place.
We'll see what happens tomorrow.

Post subject: Successful LNP
It took approximately 28 days for my number to port. Other than intermittent connectivity problems on the day of porting it was smooth.
Two work associates that recently went
Voip
with another company experienced difficulties with their number ports so its not a
Vonage
unique problem. I spoke to QWEST once during the process and suspect, based on their attitude and response, that the problems may be more prevalent on the original number handlers side.
I have actually been surprized how how good the and service quality has been. I really wasn't expecting that much for $14.95.

Post subject: Up and Running?
I haven't gotten any official word from
Vonage
yet, nor has the status changed on my check status page, but my number is now ringing only on the phone hooked up to the
Vonage
adaptor. The other phone still has a dialtone, however, so I'm not sure if I should go ahead and make
Vonage
live to the entire house yet or not ...

Still no official word, but the PSTN line is now dead. I guess I'm disconnected from Verizon ... Strange that
Vonage
hasn't told me that the transfer has occurred yet.

Here's my current data:
August 9, 2005 Awaiting Letter of Authorization
August 11, 2005 Letter of Authorization (LOA) Received
August 12, 2005 Transfer Sent to Carrier
I called Verizon to verify that they received the eLOA and they said that they do NOT have any record of LOA.
If this is true, then how do I get Vonage's 3rd party to expidite the LOA process? I realize I haven't waited the "20 days" that
Vonage
wants but if it hasn't left Vonage's side yet we have a problem!
Can anyone on here help?
-Mike
