I am trying to get Vonage and ReplayTV IVS file sharing to work on my network at the same time, but I have had no luck. I have tried both the Vonage recommended setup of:
1) Cable modem---Vonage phone adapter---router---computer ................................................................ \............\ ..................................................................\............\ ..................................................................phone....Replays and this alternate setup:
....................................Vonage phone adapter---phone ..................................../ .................................../ 2) Cable modem---router---computer .....................................\ ......................................\ ......................................Replays
The Vonage phone adapter is the Linksys RT31P2, and my router and bridges are all Buffalo WBR2-G54 units.
With setup 1, I can get Vonage to work, but I lose IVS capability. I can ping all devices, but IVS tests fail. I’m sure the issue is port forwarding, but I can’t make that work. The default ip address for the phone adapter is 192.168.15.1. I have my computer, router, and Replays set up as 192.168.11.x, all with static ip addresses. When I try to port forward with the Linksys phone adapter, the screen displays 192.168.15.__, only allowing me to change the last qualifier, so I cannot port forward to the rest of the system. I tried changing the ip address of the phone adapter to be 192.168.11.11, but when I do that, I can no longer access the adapter setup screen, so I STILL cannot initiate port forwarding. Also, with the ip address changed, I can no longer ping the adapter. However, Vonage still works.
With setup 2, I cannot port forward, again because of the 192.168.15.x vs. the 192.168.11.x issue – this time in reverse. I have NOT tried changing the Buffalos from 11 to 15, because I don’t want to trash a working IVS setup.
I would prefer to get setup 1 working so I can take advantage of the QoS function, allowing my calls to get priority when I am using IVS.
Any suggestions? |
