Right now I'm on EI and have to call in every two weeks to do my reports. For some reason I can't call EI's 800 number with my Vonage phone. All I get is a busy.. I can get through with my land line. Try it 1-800-531-7555 |

The 800 number for EI is likely has a "Canada Only" calling area. You can't call Canada Only toll free numbers from Vonage as the call server is located in NJ. This means that the from the PSTNs point of view, the call originates in the US. Many Canadian based companies have toll free numbers that include the US as a calling area to accomodate US customers, snowbirds, Canadians travelling in the US etc. but EI wouldn't need to (or want to) do this as the expanded calling area costs more. Unfortunately, there is no way to know if a toll free number is "Canada Only" without trying it first.
By the way, I recently wrote pr@vonage.com and Patti Jordon answered back that a Canadian call server is planned for "later this year", so this issue is temporary. |

use the EI online form, it's faster and easier, the teledec is ***! you have to sit and listen to them ask over and over again.. the web form takes 2 minutes to fill out, , I did this last year when i was layed off for 2 months.. |
