5 Months and waiting for Vonage LNP (2 FCC complaints, email to CEO, 8 "expedite" work orders) and now I have a new tactic called competition.
I'll report how this works:
- Sign up a second line with another VOIP provider
- Submit an LNP transfer request with the new provider
- Notify Vonage of the horse race
- First one to complete the LNP with my landline gets my business.
Thoughts? |

You have LPN's in with two VoIP companies? If so, you are in for a mess. |

I haven't submitted the second LNP yet, just considering.
My first FCC complaint named Vonage and Qwest since I didn't know who was holding up the process. Qwest wrote a nice letter back to me that they have not been contacted by either Vonage or the 3rd party LNP provider about my request.
My thought was that if the competition contacts Qwest first and completes the transfer then what's the risk?
My budget simply can't afford to keep paying the $65/month bill to Qwest when there are other VOIP companies that might transfer my number quicker than Vonage. |

Have you considered canceling your LNP with Vonage and using the new eLNP submittal process?
Early reports are 7 days for results. |

Good suggestion, I'll call Vonage LNP today and ask if it will help. As you can imagine I am hesitant to stop a process I have been enduring for 5 months without more success stories or Vonage endorsing the tactic. |

Per Vonage Employee Vontagegal:

My question to you is, what is holding up this poor soles LNP after 5months? I'm at 1+ months and counting and this is not very good news to read. |

LNP is a rather complicated process with many parties involved that really have no interest in the other parties success.
There are several good post that describe this process, one I am thinking of I will find and post later tonight. |

If I had to do it all over I would have done exactly what this thread implied, I would have ordered service from 2 VOIP providers and the first one to complete the LNP would get my account.
Since you are in the process by 1 1/2 months and you might be 5 days or 5 months from a successful transfer, my advice is to submit an FCC complaint, email the CEO and submit a complaint through dslreports.com. There is some sensitivity within Vonage about negative comments at dslreports. The other recommendation is to keep a track of all the work order #'s created to "escalate" your LNP request.
My other advice is to tell your friends not to switch until your LNP is complete and constantly remind Vonage of how may active accounts are pending your LNP.
Good luck. |

As promised:
Some vonage-forum.com/ftopic3061.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank" class="postlink">LNP Info
It is a little off topic, but it gives you an idea as to the relationships with RBOC's, CLEC's and VoIP companies.
The LNP process is much more than a flick of a switch, many parties are involved and they all have their own personalities. |
