Hi,
I am not a Vonage customer as of yet, and have a question re: sign-up:
During the sign-up, is the customer given a choice among the different hardware units available? That is, PAP2 versus a WRT54GP2 or 31P2?
Specifically, I would like to request a PAP2, as I already have a DSL router at home. Will I be able to request this during sign-up?
Many thanks in advance --

They won't send you the WRT or the PAP2. Vonage only distributes the RT for some reason. If you want the WRT or PAP2 you will have to buy it in a retail store. |

The Linksys is a POS. The Motorola used after the router works great. You should have a router that allows QOS. |

NHTracker: Thanks very much for your answer.
denverbob: Could you please explain what you mean by "Linksys is a POS"? Also, which routers allow QoS and work w/ Vonage? Thank you for your help.
Thanks again,

I can not recommend more the Linksys WRT54G. I am using it with QoS and it is rock solid, (also using the PAP2). The various hacked firmwares rock too.
The WRT54G is on sale at Radio Shack, Office Depot, and Circuit City. If you are willing to do the legwork, you can pricmatch OD and CC to RS and get it for ~$19.99 after rebates.
For more info on the firmwares, check out:

But don't sweat the choices too much, the stock linksys firmware with QoS is just fine. |

I use the RT (free from Vonage) with a Netgear 614 wireless router. No problems here! |
