HI, I have been using Vonage with the Motorola adapter for about a year now with no problems. So, I went out and purchased the Linksys WRT54GP2 and have run into a few issues.
My setup is Internet > Cable Modem > PIX 501 > WRT54GP2
At first, the connection would just fail. It would work for a few minutes and then die. I finally got it to work, but I do feel uneasy being not sure how long it will last. I am also unable to ping my PIX, which is strange as this is the gateway for my network.
I called Vonage support, and almost wanted to kill myself.
Just curious as to others that might have a similar setup and work arounds that might have been tried.
Thanks

need a lot more info. not familiar with the pix501...is it a router? or in other words, how is your wrt getting an ip? I assume you've looked in http://192.168.15.1 and set it up for obtain automatic/dhcp (that's the default I believe) or static ip and entered the info for your dns and gateway servers.
how are your computers connected? all off of the wrt?
connection would fail is very vague. computer connection? phone? does the phone work at all? and what do you mean exactly by fail? (losing ip, losing phone light, both, one or the other, etc etc) |

I'm returning my WRTP54GA today or tomorrow after having it a week.
My access to the internet through the WRTP54G would, too, appear to just die. I was rebooting the unit once every 8 to 24 hours, sometimes 2 or 3 times before it would connect again via PPPoE (sometime PPPoE wouldn't connect regardless if I pressed [Connect] button, sometimes it would but Vonage VOIP wouldn't connect -- I found leaving the unit unplugged for >15 seconds worked the best).
Linksys tried to help with configuration suggestions, but ultimately it finally appeared to be something with the WRTP54G other than configuration. Linksys suggested new firmware (my WRTP54G was running 1.00.18) and said that Vonage was responsible for the firmware and that I would need to get it from them. But Vonage didn't respond to this problem so I am returning the WRTP54G as it appears I am at an impasse.
My old connection was:
Flowpoint ADSL modem --> Linksys BEFSR41 (PPPoE with
Satic IP) --> Linksys PAP2 (for Vonage VOIP)
...and it was solid -- no problems, ever -- internet or VOIP (and the BEFSR41 is a few years old). I can't remember if I ever power cycled them. I've put that configuration back in place.
When the problem occurred, my internet connection would first get horribly slow and eventually VOIP would drop and eventually I wouldn't be able to log into the WRTP54G's admin. Pings to the outside world and the WRTP54G itself (192.168.20.1, no hops) were horrible.
When WRTP54G is working fine:

Only power cycling 1 to 3 times would bring things back to what they should be.
Like I said, I dealt with this for a week and threw in the towel today. It seemed to me without Vonage's support I was stuck with this problem if I wanted to use the WRTP54G.
I'd would like to know if you ever get a resolution to your symtpoms.
Regards.
