just asked Vonage to send me a VT1000 to replace my Cisco ATA-186 so that I can take advantage of the Voip queuing that the VT1000 does. My plan is to plug the VT1000 into my RoadRunner/Toshiba cable modem, then plug my Linksys BEFW11S4 router/wireless-AP into the back-end of the VT1000 so that all traffic goes in/out of the VT1000 and its QOS can do its magic. Crossing my fingers because of the reliability problems I've read about in this forum.
My question is: does the VT1000 support pass-through of one or multiple inbound or outbound PPTP VPN sessions (Microsoft Win2000 variety)? My main PC at home runs the PPTP VPN server software and I often run multiple outbound PPTP sessions on my laptop while at home. I also need to do outbound IPSec using the Cisco VPN Client software on a PC. |

I just got my VT1000 and plugged it into my router (ie behind router) which is Linksys BEFW11S4.
Today I have been VPNing into work network using ATT Global Client. Not sure of exact technology but worked as it always had (pre ATA). Again not sure whether would be different if my ATA was in front of router but it plugged in and has worked fine since so I aint touching nothing... |

Hi,
Also using the ATT VPN client. I could only ever get it to work if the moto is behind my router. When I had it infront of the router it would never connect.
So Modem -> Router -> Voip works ok (note pc is connected to router, not Voip) Modem -> Voip -> router -> pc always times out.
Thanks |

So, alect, where is your PC plugged in? Into your Linksys? Form your post, I can't determine if your VPN traffic is going through the Motorola VT1000.

My PC(s) are plugged into the Linksys as is the VT1000. SO VPN traffic should not be going through VT1000. |
