Can anyone tell me how I can get my vontage Linksys router RT31P2 to work with ADSL here in the Caribbean.
I know it's being done here, however Vontage tells me that it can't be done. When I called into the call center this Indian girl (not fluent in english) on the line harldy could answer my questions with out putting me on hold finally in the end rushed me off the phone with the lazy excuse that "ADSL is not supported by Vontage"
I know for a fact that it works here in Sint Maarten and it works well.
HELP
Any help is appreciated I just can't seem to get a dial tone.

Yes, I tried it, but it still does not work. No LED light for the phone. It does have a dial tone. I get a quick busy signal when I dial and the status still says can't connect to server. |

I'm using Carib Serve for an ISP. You're here in SXM!? Awesome that gives me hope then that this is going to work.

Hello I am having the same problem as ryanr123123.
I have an ADSL connection in Dubai, my modem doesn't have an ethernet output/input and so I was wondering how to go about connecting my modem to my router. My modem is connected via USB to my computer. I am using the Linksys RT31P2 router as well. Also have you been able to figure your vonage phone. Have you been able to get it to work? Please help me, as I am pretty new to this. Thank You.

arwamerchant, I'm not sure that this would work, so can someone else confirm this, would a USB-->Ethernet adapter work?
Of course the modem most probably have a 'B' type plug, so you would have to get a convertor as well. but it should still be cheaper than buying a new modem. |

A usb ethernet adapter will NOT work. You'd need something that acts as a USB host, and bridges to an Ethernet port. The only thing you're likely to find which can do that is a computer.
You'll have to put an ethernet card in the computer, and enable the Internet sharing in Windows. You might also have to forward some ports. |
