Hi All,
I just signed up with vonage, recieved the router and set everything up and had very intermiddent phone service, sometimes I got dial tone and sonetimes didnt, incoming calls never worked. I called Vonage customer help and spoke to the indians and finally got an american who couldnt figure it out either. They sent me a new router the linksys RT31P2, same one i had before. I got it today and set it up and same problem except it used to be intermittent and now ...nothing.
My setup goes Roadrunner--->>toshiba pcx2200 cable modem--->>linksys rt31p2 ---->> phone and dlink switch to many computers.
Internet access is fine but the voice status page says
Voice Version: 2.0.13(LIb)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Line1 Status
Registration Status: Offline
Call1 Status: Idle
Call2 Status: Idle
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Line2 Status
Registration Status: Offline
Call1 Status: Idle
Call2 Status: Idle
firmware version 1.27.01
>tftp tftp.vonage.net get test --- results =
Transfer successful: 5 bytes in 1 second, 5 bytes/s
C:\Documents and Settings\killa>
ive called customer care but i just get some non-english speaking freak who transferes me all over camel-land. I have sent an email too customer service but we all now that wil never get awnsered, so hopefully with some help i can figure this out.
EDIT : the lights on the router are fine except for the phone lights are NOT lit up. |

Try this reset for kicks:
Unplug RT31P2
Hold down reset button
Plug in RT31P2
Wait 15 seconds
Release reset button
Let it sit for a few minutes, and see if anything happens.
If that doesn't work, then your box might not be correctly registered with Vonage. |

I finally got through to tier 3 tech support last night and the router finally took all the updates, voice version, firmware, etc... except the phone 1 light is now flashing when there is a phone plugged into it, but steady when there isnt. Still no dial tone, I tried this reset before i spoke with the tech but still nothing. He said he would call me today when he got in to work this afternoon to see if the router sunc up overnight. I tried it again this morning b4 i came to work, still nothing, i powercycled it and nada. So it looks like im on my 2nd bad router .
Thanks for the help.
hopefully the third router will work |

have you tried more than one phone? the light will blink when the phone is in-use, maybe, by some odd chance your phone you're using is not 'hung up' properly and the router thinks it's 'off hook'
if you have already, then sorry.. just a thought.. |
