Just letting out my frustrations, two months ago I checked to see if my local number could be transferred, according to Vonage's website it could, got the service, did the number transfer request and waited two months. Finally got the email stating the date the number would transfer, it didn't happen and no word from Vonage as to why. Called tech support, turns out my number cannot be transferred because they (Paetec) don't reach this far. You would think Vonage would have checked this before telling me it could be transferred. They did credit me the two months but now I can't even get a number local to me, looks like I'll be dropping them.

Transferring from Verizon Land Line
Location: Kittery, Maine
Area Code: 207-439

Something is not right here. Let me look into it for you.

What is your Area Code and Exchange?

Can you post the email from CS?

DConnor,

Thanks for taking interest in my transfer problems, my area code is 207-439.

I did not receive an email from Vonage about the problems, I discussed it over the phone. I did however receive an email for the date of transfer and this was in the subject line:

acct is found in the rejected Paetec

My guess to why it cannot be transferred is because the local carrier line will not give up my number, if this is so then Vonage needs to update their information so other people do not think they can transfer their numbers from this area code.

Whatever you can do is much appreciated, thanks.

Hi trowhill:

Your number, as I thought, is very much portable to Vonage.

Some error in paperwork and/or communications has happened.

You should resubmit using the new electronic system and report back to us how it goes.

Smile

DConnor,

Will give it another chance, hopefully I won't have to wait two months. Will let you know the outcome. Thanks for the quick reply.

Since I joined before May 1st the Online Transfer Request was not available, I called Vonage and they fixed it so that I could apply online and even credited the transfer charge. I filled out the onlne form and will now have to wait at least 20 more buisness days to find out if my number will port over. Will post the outcome when it happens.

Is Vonage now charging to transfer (port) numbers?

My bad, it was for a new number activation charge not for transferring a number.

Item Quantity Unit Subtotal
*******************************************************************
New Number Activation Charge 1 $9.99 $9.99
-------------------------------------
FET Tax: $0.30
Shipping: $0.00
Total: $10.29
