If you still have the time to help as you did trowhill, would very much appreciate your assistance. Less than a month ago, my wife and I checked the Vonage site and saw that our personal number and my business number were, surprisingly, portable to Vonage (a year earlier, her business number was not). On this basis we initiated service on both numbers (Area Code 860, Exchange 663). Three weeks later, after the receipt of two (still unopened)Vonage boxes we are informed by email that the numbers are not portable.
What gives?

Don't know how to attach the email...here is a cut and paste of the email from Vonage....Curly brackets contain expunged personal information I'd prefer not to post.
From: "Vonage Customer Care" <number transfer@vonage.com> Save Address Reminder
To: {my email address}
Subject: [vonage.com #2625735] (LSR)Information required to process your transfer for {ten digit phone number to be transferred}
Date: Wed, 17 Aug 2005 11:56:15 +0000 [View Source]
Dear {My Vonage Username},
In regards to your number transfer request, we have received your
Letter of Authorization and phone bill. However, currently we are not offering the number portability feature in your area. Instead, you can choose one of our available numbers, with the area code of your choice. We are continually expanding our market availability and plan to offer number portability for all customers in the future. Please continually check our website for any updates, when your number becomes available for transfer you will be able to change your phone number directly from your web account.
Sincerely,
steven

I was rejected a second time to transfer my number and my gift of procrastination paid off for once. I was planning on canceling my service but waited around for three weeks and out of the blue I get a email from Vonage telling me my number is going to port over. I am now 100% on VOIP and I know this makes no sense but before my number ported I had a echo on the line, now that I'm switched over the line is a lot clearer.
Thanks Vonage-Forum for all the help. |
