I'm trying to hook up my Vonage service at a new location for the next few days. I've got cable broadband with a Linksys router and a Linksys PAP2. It's on the network with a static IP and the correct ports are being forwarded to that address. The phone gives me a fast busy signal, though.
Any idea on what I'm doing wrong? |

The PAP2 adapter has only the power/status and ethernet lights lit solid blue. The other LEDs are dark. |

Is there some kind of registration process for Vonage to recognize the new PAP2 adapter? |

It's a new PAP2 -- as opposed to another one that you've been using at the other location?
If so, it would have to be registered with Vonage, and a new phone number assigned. You can't have one phone number on two devices. |

That would explain it. Still though, it should be allowable to switch the existing phone number to a new device. |

If it's a new device you need to register it online with Vonage. You'll get a temp or virtual number if you want to transfer your current number. The site walks you through a Q&A part and at the end your phone is activated and you have documents that you need to sign and fax to Vonage to start the number transfer with your telco. |

To clarify:
You had Vonage successfully working at Location A. You then moved to Location B with a NEW PAP2 adapter? Now you are trying to get your old Vonage service, which is tied to your old phone adapter, to work on your new PAP2 adapter?
This will definitely require a call to customer service. You will probably need to give them the MAC address of the new adapter and they will have to configure it into your account.
You can only use your account with one phone adapter at a time. |
