Hi there everybody I have been using Vonage for the past 6 months. I have the follwing config:
Network Anywhere 4 port wired router --- 2 home pcs on the router -- Vonage service -- ISP Comcast High Speed Cable
The problem I am facing is Choppy voice on both ends. Either I could not hear the other person or the other person cannot hear me. I did all the PORT forwarding stuff thats been out here. NO effect
But this is what I noticed IF I DISCONNECT ONE OF PC"S ON MY NETWROK the quality of voice improves drastically and everthing works fine. Does any body know any reason behind this. Is there something on the PC thats sucking up the BANDWIDTH etc
Vonage told me I have Latency issues and we all went through that PingPlotter crap. I dont know what to do
Any Thoughts ??????????? |

Did you try to adjust your bandwith to a low number?
If not, sign on to your account, and go to the features section. One of the items listed is bandwith. Click on it, and adjust the setting down one level.
See if thet helps. |

What do you have running on your PC? Any P2P applications? Anything "phoning home" all the time without you realizing it? Do you know how to check and make sure? |

Here's one way to find out what's going on. On the PC that seems to cause the problem, install the Kerio Personal Firewall, version 2.1.5. It will require a reboot. For convenience, you can go to the Administration settings and disable the firewall.
But what you still have left is a very nice tool that shows every data flow your PC has going and how much bandwidth each flow takes. I wish I could show you the screen output.
The freeware of 2.1.5 is not available at www.kerio.com any more - they now sell version 4 for $22. Do a Google search for "kerio 2.1.5" and you'll find a site to get teh freeware version from.
