I have a US Vonage account but am living in Canada. Much cheaper that way. But how can I set up 911 access there? If I log into my US account, 911 access for the Canadian cities are not available. I cannot log into the Canadian site to set the phone number there. Any ideas? |

I will venture to guess that you are out of luck on this one. But it is worth a phone call to CS.
Please let us know the outcome. |

If I'm assuming correctly that you are a canadian citizen, the answer is probably no. Vonage will most likely want to transition you to a canadian account because they offer their service there. So you may have to choose between having 911 service or paying a lower price.
I can completely understand why you would prefer the US price. I was surprised by the $15 difference. |

No I am not a Canadian citizen. But I still have to live in Canada for work purposes. There are many reasons why it makes sense to have a US Vonage account; not a Canadian one. For instance, you cannot call the DirecTV 800 number from a 'Canadian' phone number, but with your US phone number it works fine. |

For what it's worth, you're better off without 911 dialing through Vonage right now anyway as they are currently not able to interconnect with the "real" 911. They can only connect you to the non-emergency number for your city. The same is true in the US right now as well although a solution for both countries is in the works. Hopefully, Vonage will be able to help you with your unique situation as I suspect that you are not the only one that has or will have this problem. For now, you are better off using your cell phone to access 911. Cellular 911 isn't as good as e911 but it is better than the "911 dialing" that Vonage provides right now due to interconnection issues. |
