I have the Linksys RT31P2 router and I cant get either of them to keep a connection with my isp. We just migrated to PPPOE and now I am constantly not able to keep a connection.

Currently I had to put my Vonage router on another router that is connecting via pppoe. This is not very productive since i have completely shut down another part of my network in order to use this extra router.

Is there any way we can fix this or is there a router for PPPOE that Vonage uses?

And what if i want to upgrade the firmware? How do I do that????

PLEASE HELP!!!

it should work, be sure you're entering all the info it needs. judging from the firmware question you probably haven't bothered to look at the manual yet, so that would be a good place to start too. and of course make sure your isp doesn't require mac address registration.

I have checked the manual, and I do believe I have the latest firmware from feb 2005. But my Vonage is going absolutely bezerk now. I can get a dial tone.... but the call ends after about 1+ mins. just dead silence. Or i dont get a dial tone at all. But if i connect directly to my isp without the additional router... i stays connected for about 10-20 seconds before it disconnects again. And my voice status is "cannot connect to server"

And i had my isp come and configure my router for me.

who is your isp and what kind of connection is it?
how is your network setup?

Ask your ISP about how they provision those lines. PPPOE is a demand-dial service. It happens nearly instantaneously, so it gives the impression of a continuous connection. Your Vonage kit will definitely notice, however.
Check your Linksys settings to see if PPOE is set to connect on demand or to "Keep alive". Keep alive will send a trickle of traffic every so many seconds to keep the connection up.
